"Challenge: Many who read this will have history and geneaology available to share. I would like to extend a warm inventation to write me concerning placing your information along with other families that have historic roots in Ennis, Texas. Whether you live somewhere else now or not, some who read these pages will have families that extend back deep into the history of this city. Consider the benefit to all of those whose lives may be enriched by the information, pictures, genealogy trees, etc. that you share with others here. Who knows, you may help bring together family that have been long lost to each other."
Ennis Families, is a dedication to the families who helped to settled and establish the City of Ennis. These families laid the foundations of who we are as a community today as well as where and how we will grow as a community tomorrow. Families like:
- O. W. Munch, who was the proprietor of the City Meat Market, "who was known to serve the very finest of everything and does the business of the town".
"Press of Butcher & Biggers", Ennis, Texas 1900
The list of families and their contributions to commerce and industry during the early years of Ennis is impressive, especially during the years of the city's growth. This will take time and help from anyone who cares to share their stories, pictures, and memories with others so they, their deeds and efforts can be remembered by everyone to be passed down to others who will follow us tomorrow. Anyone that has family history and photos that would like to share can email me by clicking on the link below. - Messrs M. J. and J. T. Heron, the managing partners of the Globe Tailoring Co. "who were convinced that Ennis had the jump on having the only manufacturing tailor shop in Texas". They could make a suit to order in 10 hours and pants in 3 hours.
- J. Blakey and T. T. Clark who had the largest and most reliable Hardware Establishment in Ellis county. The company had two hardware stores , a buggy , carriage and wagon repository, fully equipped with elevators, etc., and three large warehouses for storing wagons and farm implements. The lines carried at their establishments embraced the output of the leading factories of America.
- There was also Castellaw and Vaughan, prescription druggists and C. M. Clare's Jewelry.
